because if he did not walk, the movie would not have been Forest Gump right? he has to walk... or there is no point to the movie.
example: when he ran across america, he actually nid to walk first before he start running.... if he doesnt walk, the story has no "excitement".
Watch the movie again, and imagine him not walking.. hehehes

IMHP, Forest was running from his personal trials, but in that quest, he innocently changed the lives of thousands of people, all for the better. By the way, he got rid of the leg braces to escape a few bullies, goaded on by his then girlfriend.
Wonderful movie.

The hero has several messages throughout the film, some of which are less obvious than others. The most frequently recurring theme is an admonition not to give up on life. The walk walk and walk is one of such messages he admonishes.
