Read newspapers such as Le Monde and Figaro. There are online French websites which can teach you a lot.
Learn French. Then you can understand more than simply what the French are willing to tell you in English.
Go to the bourse and take notes. Live in France. Involve yourself in exchange programs.
Write to the French embassy for information on the business about which you're interested.
Read the entries on France in the encyclopedia.
Watch French films.
Look up the topics you want in the National Geographic index of magazines.

Local library. Alot of them have free research assistants. Volunteers and librarians who will get you pointed in the right direction
