I want to make an Algorithms workshop about the relationship between algorithms and mathematics in a university.

Very Interesting. I know that as a computer / mathematics professional, sometimes I dread attending another workshop. However, the ones that I have really enjoyed had the following characteristics:
1. The speaker is passionate about the topic
2. There is a moderate and a variety of hands on activities; Involve the guest.
3. The over-head materials are bright and colorful with materials for the guest.
4. A few give aways ( announce in the beginning) that you will be asking questions about the workshop. You can give a book on the subject, Cd's etc.
5. Allow for at least one break.
6. Keep the presentation concise and short.
