Did time go away for you? It did for me. I had to think about breathing. My brain was on over load. I was thinking sooooo fast about everything at once. What was going on, the people I love , how I was going to survive this. All kinds of stuff at once. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Just some random nut who was having a REAL bad day and decided to share!

It was a long time ago so I am mostly better now [still have dreams about 1 a year.]

Yes, but not in a hostage situation...I faced a loaded gun held by my own father, aimed directly at my head when I walked up on him in the dark, and he expected me to be the intruder in the house... he realized at the last second who I was.
On another occasion my late husband aimed a loaded pistol at our infant son, and I got in between gun & baby.
I cannot stand for anyone to even aim a water gun at me now!!
Enlightening experience? Oh yeah!

When I was about eight my father got into a fight with a friend of his who happened to pull a gun on him. I stood infront of my father and said if he was going to shoot my Dad then he would have to shoot me first...My father was the only thing running through my head at first, but afterwards, when the police came...I was in shock about the whole situation. It makes me proud to know that I can stand up like that to protect someone I love, and then again it scares the **** out of me to know that if he would have pulled that trigger I wouldn't be here sharing my experience with you. Even at eight years old it really helps to put things into perspective and see where exactly your priorities in life are. I hope you never have to go through such an experience again.

Yes, I had that happen to me many years ago. I was a young father with two small boys at the time. All I saw were my sons' faces flashing in my head. What terrified me the most was the thought that I might not see them again.

It happened to me once. It wasn't an enlightening experience for me, but closer to a lightening one. I almost **** myself.
