FREEDOM is taken for granted. We know our history...we know people have died so we are able to wear the outfit we want to wear every morning but we don't think about it...
I respect my freedom. I appreciate it. I grew up in a very patriotic family. My dad is a WWII Vet...I was well aware of the sacrifices that were made in order for me to choose if I wanted to put on a dress or jeans...little things like that....if I want to go to the movie and see Jaws or Deep Throat...you know, things like that are the "freedoms" we take for granted. I love the USA and the freedom I have to sit here and tell you about it. All Americans love their freedom. That's why we have so many immigrants. That's why the terrorists hate us so bad because they're jealous.

You need to be a little more specific and try not to lump all Americans into one group. This is what is called overgeneralizing/stereo typing. For those of you answering this question that are NOT Americans, stop bumpin' your gums and find another question that you actually know the answer to. Sometimes it's better to just keep your mouth shut. That way, there's a lesser chance of making yourself look like an idiot.
If we don't respect our freedom, then explain to me why the majority of Americans to not approve of Bush or his policies? Since he has been President, our rights as Americans have been violated in many ways. He makes his decisions based on his religion. Although I am a Christian, I do not approve of Bush or anyone else shoving their religious views and/or policies down America's throat. The government has found many loop holes to allow themselves to violate our rights and believe me, we don't appreciate it.
This question of yours has no validation and is absolutely ridiculous. Most of us love our country and everything associated with it, with the exception of Bush. As Americans, we have more than most of the world's population will ever have and the reason for that is.....that's right, you guessed it....FREEDOM!

I think people respect things more, when they lose the thing they have taken for granted.
At same time...many Americans respect their freedom, that question is a little stereotyped.

Because it doesn't touch their personal lives. Their day to day activities are not affected, so they don't care if someone else's are.
In honor of Pastor Martin Niemöller:
First they came for the 6th Amendment, but I hadn't been accused of a crime, so I didn't object to denial of counsel.
Then they came for the 4th Amendment, but I wasn't talking to anyone overseas, so they wouldn't be monitoring me.
Then they came for the rest of the 4th Amendment, but I only called my mother, so there was nothing suspicious in my phone records.
Then they came for the 1st Amendment, but I never associated with criminals, so I didn't worry about being convicted purely based on what other people might do.
Then they came for the 14th Amendment, but I never really understood the rules for Due Process (and wasn't allowed an attorney), so I didn't object.
Then they came for the rest of the 1st Amendment, but I never told anyone about what the government was doing, so again I remained silent.
Then they came for the 5th Amendment, ...... and I no longer had the right to remain silent.

Freedoms are going down the drain one by one.
The only advice I could mention is to excersise the privileges given you in the Amendments to the Constitution.
Do you believe some people won't excersise their "Rights" or more appropriately privileges?

Because most American's have grown up with it and it's always been a part of their lives. They don't know anything else, so as is often the case, they take it for granted.

Most Americans feel that we have less freedoms and less say in our lives because the illegal imigrants are coming in here and telling our government to change everything. We have been "ONE NATION UNDER GOD" since I was born and now because some foreigners have come in here and dont like it we have to change it Bull Sh** is what I say.

Because the current governing party has only one strategy, to retain power by instilling fear in the public. Sad to see the demise from the founding fathers who tried to create the conditions to create a free and strong nation by enshrining those ideals in the constitution.
