Of course there is some racism. There is in any country. But generally speaking, among the masses, it has all but vanished.

Familiar with this? Apartheid (literally "apartness" in Afrikaans and Dutch) was a system of racial segregation that was enforced in South Africa from 1948 to 1994. Almost 50 years worth, and still problems there. Yes, we had the separate but equal doctrine here too, especially in the south. But ours was only about 20 years worth, 20 years too much of course, but gone now, thankfully. It's not something we are proud of.

Look up George Corley Wallace for some of the things that shaped the south, and the conclusions of the situation.

If anything today we have reverse discrimination, where political correctness says "we discriminated against this group in the past, so we have to make up for it now by giving things away at the expense of the group that discriminated against them back in the 50's."

It's a complicated subject, but I can assure you that if there IS racism, it will be stopped, and that the majority of us are against any from of discrimination. We are a nation of equal opportunity and a nation of laws.

Just about everyone is prejudiced in some way towards/about some other group be it religions, gender, sexual preference, political affiliation, race, skin color, socio-economic position, etc.

Those that claim it's racism usually don't have a clue what racism really is. Just because someone doesn't like you (if that's the case), doesn't mean it's racism -- it just means they don't like YOU! Ask yourself if everyone of your same race, ethinicity, social, economic class, etc likes YOU. Do they? Then why should you expect everyone in other groups to like you? Do you claim that those in your own group (whatever it is) that don't like you are racist?

Just because a person loses a job or doesn't get the job or the raise or the promotion or the girlfriend/boyfriend/gayfriend doesn't mean it happened because of their race -- it's just life!

Most people who claim racism as the cause of their problems are just looking for one more excuse why their life is a pile of sh** for which they refuse to take responsibility -- they want to be able to blame someone or something else for their miserable life and their pathetic existence.

There are plenty of examples from all races, ethnic groups, etc. who have "pull themselves up by the bootstraps" to make something of themselves and become someone who is a beacon for others. Unfortunately, there are many more examples of the pathetic whiners who blame their entire failure mentallity on racism instead of just getting up off their lazy *ss and getting something worthwhile done!!

The truth is there is racism in every country. Does this make it right, no. No one wants to admit to being racist, it makes them look bad, and heaven forbid we look bad. I beleive a lot of it stems from ignorance. We don't know about others cultures and are not tolerant enough to learn. All we see are the bad characteristics of each group never admitting that our group has problems as well. There's good people in each sector of society, along with bad people as well.

Who claimed that? Bush himself, and God knows he lies more than the average politician, admitted that there is still racism in the U.S.

the truth is that people don't like to see what happens in their own home. it's like how people claim that they aren't homophobic, but say "i'm not a homophobe, but do i have to look at gay people?"
