Get off the computer and spend a few hours outside wherever there's people every day, even if you have to get in line at restaurants and walk out before you have to pay, go to a college campus even if you don't go to that college, or walk around a mall all day until you get the courage to talk to someone ........... whatever it takes to get you out there.
Church services are great too because they require almost no participation and there are services in difrent days during the week, plus many of the people are friendly and supportive.

Look up local community activities that you might enjoy, or something that you might enjoy learning. What hobbies do you have? Maybe there's a class you could take, like dancing, or some other activity. I'm stressing an activity, because whether it's hiking, or martial arts, or dancing, activities usually ARE social; you would be around people who may also be trying something out for the first time, and are a bit nervous. That way, you can joke about your uneasiness, and find that others feel the same way. And then, you may also discover, that you have a skill that someone doesn't, and help them out. That way, you get over your phobia, by helping someone else. Over time, it will become easier, because you'll realize that many people are also uneasy in social situations.
In a social situation, when you feel uncomfortable, try to scope out someone who looks like they're at ease and cheerful, and try to imitate them, even if it feels very awkward at first.
Also, try reading through etiquette books, to have an idea of what to do in different situations, with which you may not be familiar. It may seem "old-fashioned", but it does help.

Social skills is a 2-way factor, bear in mind. do not in basic terms talk approximately your self yet make an effort to ask approximately the different guy or woman besides. Oh, and bear in mind the guidelines of suitable etiquette. That looks to instruct human beings off.

Talk to as many people as possible. Don't be shy to anyone, be confident and people will acknowledge that. The more people you know, the more support you will have as a person. Remeber always look your best and try to smile a lot.
