Can you teach and old dog knew tricks ? Or should you just put him out to pasture ?

It's hard to teach a dog tricks. "Knew?" I think you meant "new."

You put a cow out to pasture, or a horse. Not a dog. Dogs like to lay in the shade or shelter of a building.

dog traing involves deication
first walk teh dog for at least an hour (carefull with old dogs)
then after food and water, the dog will be more receptive to training
second repeat your process every day , repeating will teach
confidence, dont get frustrated use dominate calm voice, use the same commands, remove distractions, never raise or increase your voice
just ignore any actions other than what your trying to teach
scolding a dog for doing wrong may just build frustration or give it imporper feedback to his/her actions

I think you can. Because evryone evolves from the time they are born til they die. I think anyone can be turned to see things in a new light if given time and know how.

Nah - just put him in between 4 trees - he wouldn't have a leg to stand on
