Never actually pondered that question before....maybe the "stretching" out of words in a lyrical fashion eliminates that aforementioned accents? Could this be true???

Listen to Maximo Park or the Arctic Monkeys, then say bands dont sing with an accent.

Very good question (Abba, Milky, Falco, Oasis, Slade, Ultravox) bands with a flat English accent! But then there is "The Proclaimers".

I think it is because you are accessing a different part of the brain to sing. Not sure though.

they do - they sing with an American accent. It goes right back to the Stones - they wanted to be black American bluesmen so they copied the whole style, and it stuck. Now everyone has to do it.

What act can you think of that doesn't sing with an accent I can't think of one. So many sing with fake American accents that really pisses me off!

It's because of diction. When people sing, words don't sound as clear, and most singers make sure their words are pronounced correctly

i have a funnier one for ya, Irish rappers, thers a few popping up around ireland and let me tell ya, me being irish as well, irish and rap, a horrible combination, as a comedy sketch u should see and hear a irish rapper lol ,lmao pmsl its seriously funny
