I am 63, Male and Retired.

Happiness is being able to be comfortable with who you are. It is not having to justify your self to anyone because you have experienced life, both up and down and good and bad. It is noy having to worry about whether someone loves you or is angry with you. It means being able to pursue your interests, no matter how obscure or popular. Happiness is being able to search for your own personal meaning of life, regardless of how narrow or broadly focused that may be. Your height and weight mean nothing to you. Your manner of dress is insignificant to your life. Education is a means to an end, but the lack of it, or the accomplishments of advanced education do not change who you are. An agile mind is always an asset, but a fixed mind is limiting.

I'm 47, male, and a teacher. Happiness is an emotion, and we view it favorably because it makes us feel good. Happiness makes us smile and see the positive things in life. It makes us feel "up" and ready to share what makes us happy. Happiness can be caused by many factors... the birth of a child, a new job, a puppy, a kind word, or getting help with a report.

53, female, teacher. Happiness to me is one of the many gifts from God. It has been established "in" us and it is up to "us" to exercise that gift and make it profitable for life and living. I don't depend on others to create and manifest my happiness for me. They can "add" to it - but the initial foundation of happiness is the joy which has been placed in me. It is up to me to activiate it and I have all the authority to do so. I can choose to be happy, or choose to be sad and depressed. Happy is much better. How do I do it? Very simple. I wake up in the morning and listen to the natural sounds around me. I thank God for the day unfolding and I pray and meditate. I ask him to empty me so that I can fill up again with his love and be able to give that to others as I go about my day. My position as a teacher allows me to empty my love and joy and happiness daily. Each smile, each kind word, each hand on the shoulder, each element of comfort is what happiness is to me. When I can share what I have already been given - that measure of happiness and faith - I find that I am filled up even more. You have to give it - to receive it - and to live it. Happiness is a choice - a gift - and it's up to me to increase my level of it and pass it on.
