You probably need about 5 lbs., you want your gravel at least 1 inch deep. Don't forget to rinse it first.

The marbles will allow food and fish doo to become hidden down in the spaces between them. The food and doo will then decay and be a rich source of ammonia which will cause your fish a lot of problems. Marbles or large gravel is not a good substrate for aquariums.... unless you get a gravel-vac and clean it at least once a month.

specific. in case you keep a medical institution tank or a breeding tank, it rather is endorsed to not have gravel on the backside, so your fish would be effective for a quick time. That pronounced, a lot of nitrifying micro organism dangle out interior the gravel. with a bit of luck you nonetheless have sufficient micro organism on your filter out media or interior the water to maintain the tank from biking back. If not, save a watch on issues and do water ameliorations. good luck.

get about 2 or 3 inches of gravel & don't make it itsy bitsy gravel pieces. if you don't have enough, whatever you put i nthe gravel won't stand up, and when the fish swim eventually the gravel will seperate & show the bottom of the tank. you may even want to put a few smooth rocks at the bottom. they always work as a base & save you from buying tons of gravel bags.

you need only enough to cover the bottom and mainly to hold down platns. actually you don't need any gravel ,,just the rocks to hold plants..i've seen many tanks with out gravel and they actually look cleaner and are easier to clean......too much gravel and you'll get extra food stuck down in it.....just add alittle at a time and stop when the plants stay put......

5 pound plus. You could use sand for your tank. Perhaps it's down to what looks nice to you. My tank has approx 2" of gravel.
