A wild bird seed mix would be best.

The bread is actually very unhealthy for them. Continue feeding bread to these birds only if you wish to do them harm. These two species are undesirable anyway, since they are non-native species and make life difficult for more beneficial birds such as purple martens, which are native. Sparrows poke holes in marten eggs, killing the potential offspring. Starlings also invade nests, destroying eggs and hatchlings. So over-feeding the starlings and sparrows bread may kill them off -- or at least serve as a distraction -- perhaps saving a few purple martens.

It would be better to get a bird feeder at Walmart and feed them seeds!!!!! You would get more of a variety of birds and probably more. That is if you want to see more. I have feeder next to the house and there are always allot of birds. I saw a parakeet this morning that must have been someones pet. Have fun!!!!
