I am having problems connecting my I-Pod. It won't let me eject it because it says its in use by another program and a shield comes up saying some is corrupted and to use the chkdsk utility.

Chkdsk is a Dos command. I don't know why you would get a message like that in Windows since when you use the disk defragmenter utility in accessories it does the window equivalent of that command only better. But try going to the start/run section or the Dos prompt and type in chkdsk and see what happens.

chkdsk can be used by opening up a command prompt.

On Windows 2000/XP:
Start --> Run --> type in cmd --> in the window that opens navigate to the drive you want to run chkdsk on (ie type c: or f: or d:). --> next type chkdsk

If it comes up with errors, you may wish to run chkdsk /f

I'd give instructions on 98, but I doubt you're using that as I believe i-pods only work with 2000 or above. Correct me if I'm wrong though please.

The ipod is a plug and play device. Make sure any program that is using Ipod is stopped. Using chkdsk is only really useful for your hard disk. The file system on your ipod may be damaged. You may have to reformat it and start from scratch or if it still wont work something may be damaged and you may need to get it repaired if it is worthwhile. Good luck!
