In any language there is a change EVERY year. They add new words idioms etc.. English is split into two: British and American. Believe me - one day (in about 50 or so years) they would need a dictionary to communicate between one another.

Well, one main reason is the introduction of new areas of knowledge, thereby introducing new vocabulary. For instance, twenty years ago, megabite was not known by many, but as technology increased, it became a familiar part of our vernacular. Secondly, I think English changes because the speakers sometimes don't know the proper way to say something so the incorrect way becomes acceptable (Ex: Who are you going to the play with? Correct: With whom are you attending the play?). So, whom kind of leaves the language because it is used less and less. Thirdly, young people have a huge impact on English. Words that used to mean one thing now mean something totally different because of the usage assigned by the young. For example, bad was not used to mean good, cool, or awesome until fairly recently. Another example is fat (phat). Comtemporaries have used this word to mean good, cool, or awesome, while previous generations stuck to one definition. So, the young in society shape and change the language by inventing new usages.
I feel like I'm answering an essay question in college....LOL. Thanks for making me think!
