I worked for a cleaning service for years..
Start with the top (high dusting) .
Then the furnature..dust and wipe down
Then the floors..
bathroom.. sweep... clean sink. then tolet.. then mop..
bedroom same as other rooms..
take a box or bag and throw all things in it that do not belong in that room..
then put them where they belong as the last thing on your to do list.

It depends on what kind of dirt you're dealing with. It certainly is easier to clean if it's not allowed to get too dirty in the first place.

If you're talking about a deep cleaning, try inside to out (as in inside the cabinets to out), top to bottom (dusting and removing cobwebs), wall to floor (moving furniture to vacuum or scrub the floors there), then everything else. And it's less overwhelming if you concentrate on one room at a time, rather than try to do it all at once.
