There is no problem with the foreigner staying in the house. The girl and her family will be happy to have him stay there. The village of course will hope for a party!

The answer is a big YES! It is a cultural shame not because you are an American boyfriend. It goes generally to all boyfriends in all races even filipinos themselves. When the two of you are not yet married or engaged to be married, it is a big shame to stay in her father's house.
*Does the village talk about her later?
They will not care if the village would talk.
*Is it a loss of face?
For the Filipina, yes, the family will think of you as good for nothing assh....le went to the Philippines without enough funds for a hotel fee.
*What is the big deal?
If the family of your girlfriend has the means to entertain and feed visitor like you then no big deal but if u see no means , be sensible enough and shed some money.
And the next time you go to other places, try to adopt yourself to that place and dont expect the place to adopt for you. So grow some more brains, dude.
I read all of your questions and please I am also a Filipina, so don't generalize us. If u want help in the Philippines, there are still other many filipinos and filipinas who could extend help.

Some people like some don't, they feel that a USA guy can just walk in and do what they like. Even some might smile at the guy but not like him so much. If he's like a big american style and shouting and being drunk they don't like - but if he's nice boy then they could like him - he should bring gifts for village people.

here in the Philippines we have this idea that if you are not yet married you should not live together.
The family will not lose a face but they will be talk of the town even if your still their. The whole village will think of them as MONEY FACED people especially if your gf family is not that respectable
Gossips here in the Philippines can make or break a family.

I've done this many times. Never felt uncomfortable at all and always welcomed back. A majority of girls do not live near a hotel if they are in the province. If you want to meet her family, what other choice do you have? Her family will of course want to meet you and trying to bus up all her relations is not practical. Even if you are in a major city, the family will love you staying in thier place. It will also show that you are not judging them if they are very poor.

yes, american supposed to be rich. BF should show some power for the filipina to be proud and her family. the BF should take the lead. not to follow. otherwise both of them will be ridiculed. filipinos because mostly are poor have a big deal about pride. BF should take care of it

If your father allows it, I think there is no problem as long as you are not going to sleep with him until you get married. Of course, the issue will somewhat becomes the talk of the town for those narrow minded people, its a fact. But who cares, we are living in a free and democratic country. Prove to them, that whatever negative things they thinking towards it, they are absolutely wrong.

Youre her boyfriend, if the family allows you to stay then why not. Some folks are open minded just be respectful. This goes with asians and not just Filipinnas.

it's not really because you're foreign. living together before marriage is still not acceptable in the philippines. although some are already doing that, it's not something they are proud of.
and yes, people will talk about that especially in the provinces when everybody knows everybody and their business.
