Well basicaly could be 2 problems here:
1. Ur quickcam may have a hardware problem .....solution is to install it on other computer .......if wabcam works fine then .....
2......there is a problem ( hardware or software ) to ur PC. In this case u can try ANOTHER webcam on ur PC to see if u can install it . If the the other webcam dont wanna work too coul be:
a) disabled USB ports from BIOS b) USB drivers are messed up or c) XP have a problem .......in last 2 cases must reinstall XP but in case a) just enter BIOS and check if usb 2.0 port is enabled . My last HINT is to follow EXACTLY the instalation procedure from the webcam MANUAL.

If you wanna know more.....
Feel free to contact me on yahoo messenger for more details.

windows xp only has a limited libary of drivers and as there are 1000,s of devices avalible for p.c,s there are going to be a few that windows wont recognize, windows vista will hopefully make this a thing of the past,as its libary of drivers will auto-update as new devices come on the market
what you need to do with your quickcam is put the installation disc in the dvd-rom but leave it idle, inother words dont start it up,and then go to device manager(right click my computer>hardware)and then look for a device with a question mark over it,you then double click the question mark and a dialog window will open,in there you must click "reinstall driver"and then ask windows to look for it automatically,it will then take info off the disc in the dvd-rom as and when it needs it
this device instalation works with all devices, printers, scanners and digital cameras, you can install all the driver disc if it has additional information you need, but this can be done afterwards
try this,it will work
good luck

Double check two things, first that the connectors are pushed all the way in at both ends of the cable; if that doesn't help then try using a different usb port on your computer (unless it plugs into your firewire!).

Try going to the Logitec website and see if there are any drivers for the product.

Go to the Logitech web site and download the latest drivers for your camera. I had a similar issue with a Logitech camera, and no longer could find the driver CD. This fixed it right away.

First, you have to check if the USB port has been activated from BIOS. Maybe all that tou did was correct, but if the port is not active.. the resultat is that one that it won't recognize everithing. Try to connect another device un the same port and check if the computer detects it (a printer, a digital camera etc).

Second, try another USB port... that one could be burned.
