I think much Beyonce's sucess is a right place/ right time sort of thing- even though she was still in Destiny's Child when Aaaliyah died. She is talented, but I believe Aaliyah had more star power and was a better example for younger fans. Not mention that she didn't resort to the "westernization of beauty" (look it up) to broaden her audience.. but that's another topic completey.

I think that Beyonce would still be as popular, but Aaliyah would be the queen of today's music. She is a great role model-- you never saw her in all the tabloids and magazines because she was real and down to earth. Beyonce has an amazing voice and she is really beautiful, but Aaliyah had an amazing voice, she was a great performer, she was beautiful, and she was a great role model. She had the total package. Aaliyah's songs made sense too, they actually came from the heart. Plus, they were popular!! For example, Cassie is beautiful, but that's about it. Her song Me & U really was just a combination of rhyming words with a good beat. She isn't the world's best dancer, and she doesn't have any more singing talent than most teenage girls. Aaliyah was the best, and I think she always will be. Aaliyah, we will never forget you!!

Aaliyah was amazing.. no one can compete with her voice and beauty. she sang like an angel and looked like a princess. Beyonce is also a great singer. But her songs are NO WAY as good. her solo career is so based on looks and whoever she can get to RAP on her singles. Aaliyah was so much more than that.. and i think if she was still alive Beyonce and Aaliyah would have serious competing to do in the charts.

Prettyboy's answer jut goes to show that too many people hold women up to standards. Singers (any woman) don't have to have big boobs to be a good artist or to be beautiful. As long as people think like that or children will continue to strive to be something that is almost unattainable.
