Oh, my sympathies to you!
My daughter used to do this, and I found I couldn't stop her, just bear it!
I hope that it doesn't last long, but my daughter did it for at least two months, and my neighbour said her daughter did it for at least six months, but the good news is that it will stop.
Don't be too concerned about the bleeding, he'll soon learn not to do it so hard that it hurts.
Is he teething again? Maybe you could give him a teeting ring to chew on.
Unfortunately, I think this is one of those things that only time can resolve, and you'll soon forget he ever did it.

my son is 11 months too, and he has 8 teeth and grinds them!!! I know what you mean by fingernails on a chalkboard!!!! My oldest also grinds her teeth..... I asked the dentist and he told me there is really nothing you can do about it if they are awake when they do it tell then no... they will learn what no means some day soon!!! He also said they will out grow it.... and hopefully before they get their adult teeth.... it is just their baby teeth so it is not going to hurt nothing. But my oldest daughters teeth are sooo small because she has always grinded them!!! But if your still worried that him to the doctor and ask.... its just something some kids learn to do.... or unintentionaly do when they are sleeping. Good luck..... and cover your ears ;)

i think you should try telling him no no when ever he starts to do that. he could grow up and have serious teeth probs. or he might have to have a mouth plate and sleep with it at night when he gets older so yeah i would try to stop him of the habit and maybe he is teething more so go pick up some teething toys. (water filled teether) good luck

There's basically two answers to this one is more likely then the other.
1- this is completely normal his teeth are coming out and his gums are getting use to it, he will eventually stop, trust me.
2- most unlikely is he has parasites
Either way ask your son's pediatrician.

i wouldnt let him, i ground my teeth as a young child i was 5 or 6 when i started and the denist made a bumper for me.(I only did it in my sleep)The doctor and the denist told my mom it was nerves that caused me to do it or i was overly tired when i did it. I would consult your family doctor and ask. If he is doing it during the day i would stay no to him when he does it.

i hate that. my twins do it occasionally, but not regularly. you might want to talk to his doctor. i was told by my pediatrician that it is something that they will outgrow but it can pose a threat to their teeth. there isn't much that you can do but what i do is try to distract them. when they start to do it i usually call their name or talk to them while showing them something that they like.

I'm not sure if it is harmful. My suggestion is to preoccupy him when he does it. Inform your pediatrician and see what they say.
