Start, Run. Type 'msconfig' and press Run or hit Return. This will show you what is set to run at startup. Try to locate what is (or was) in the Common Files folder which is trying to run. Uncheck the box next to it and click OK.
If you find it difficult to determine what is causing the problem, uncheck the likely ones in turn and restart every time. If that one wasn't the solution, check it again and uncheck the next one.
Once you have located the problem (possibly a file in the Common Files folder that got deleted), you can leave that box unchecked.

I searched for "windows + common file" and got a load of technical sites; the common file is part of the windows system but I have no idea why it would open on startup.
I don't think its a good idea to stop common file loading on startup as a lot of the system and programs depend on it.
I think you need to get technical help with this. You could try e-mailing the help and support at Microsoft, they're a bit slow to answer. Or hopefully someone here will know of a good technical forum you can join to get someone to talk you through it step by step; I did see one posted on here within the last two days and it might be worth looking through the other questions to find it.
Or ask another question "Does anyone know a good technical forum for Windows XP?" Then add the details you've just given.
I'll go search for one, if I find one I'll post back here.
It would help if you could post which operating system you;re using (which version of windows) eg 2000, ME or XP.

First, when you log on to computer do right mouse click on taskbar (don't turn off thing called 'Common File'), choose Task Manager. See what process (exe file) it use. Go to Start-Run, type msconfig, go to tab "Start up" and deselect that process. This should work.
Second way, go to Start-All Programs-Start up, and delete that exe file (process).

Try this,
Run Regedit
Go to,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
\Microsoft\Windows
\CurrentVersion\Run
These programs automatically start when any user is logged in.
It is used for all users on this computer.
Delete anything you don't want to start when you logon.
Best wishes and have fun but be safe.

Don't listen to the gumbos, telling you to spray, incase you damage it. Find a reputable dealer and take sound advise
