Are you using the speed of light in a vacuum as your yardstick?

186,000 miles per second x 60 seconds

11,160,000 miles in a minute.

What do you mean by a minute? Do you mean a measure of time or a measure of an angle?

If its time, then you need the rate of speed to calculate it. You already have those answers above.

If its an angle, then you must be referring to minutes of latitude or longitude, where there are 60 minutes (') in one degree (°). So then it depends if you want to know how many miles are in 1' of longitude or 1' of latitude.

If its latitude, then that's easy. The distance from the north pole to the equator is 10,000 kilometers (along the earth's surface) or 90° in angular distance. 90° is 5400 minutes (90 x 60), so:

Distance / minutes = distance per minute
10000 km / 5400' = 1.85 km per '

You asked miles, but you didn't specify what kind of mile (a problem with the imperial system of measurements). There are 1.6 km in a statute mile, so 1.85/1.6=1.16

Therefore your answer is 1.16 statute miles per minute, or 1.0 nautical miles per minute.

If you are referring to longitude, then it is not possible to answer unless you define which latitude you are at. That's because you have 0 km of longitude around the earth at 90°N or 90°S, but 40,074 km at the equator which is at 0°.

60= 1min x 1 mi

120 = 30 sec x 1 mi

240 = 15 sec x 1 mi

480 = 7.5 sec x 1 mi

960 = 3.75 sec x 1 mi

1920 = 1.875 sec x 1 mi

3840 = 0.9375

7680 = 0.46875

15360 = 0.234375

30720 = 0.1171875

61240 = 0.05859375

122480 = 0.029296875

244960 = 0.0146484375

489920 = 0.00732421875

and keeps on going ( min = minute , mi = miles x hour , sec = second)
