Rice is a grain, like wheat or barley. It is sometimes called a cereal grain because it can be made into cereal.

Rice CAN be a cereal if you process it, and crisp it, thats what Rice Krispies are.
Rice can also be used to make sweeteners, and a myriad of other items.
