Its a natural feeling to yearn. Sometimes you yearn for a loved one like your girlfriend or wife who is temporarily not by your side...your children who are away in college,....or something you have not eaten for a long time, or maybe your mum's cooking of your favorite dish and the list goes on.....
Having said that its natural and therefore ok to yearn.......but the yearning should not result in doing something negative like.... you should not let the yearning control you to the extent of committing something thats not warranted....like for example...there was this story about a rapist bus driver's case of raping and killing a lady on board a bus.......the reason being because.....his wife was pregnant and due for delivery very soon....and that he wasnt able to release his yearning for sex, that he had to rape the lady, but had to kill her to escape being regconised and later may be sent to jail.............the verdict by the court ...death sentence for the crime committed was passed on the day his wife delivered their first child...too sad a story....how happy he would have been now, if he had controlled himself for the "yearning for sex"!
Sad story, but true!
So my advice to you is if you yearn for anything but cant get it, stop the yearning, have a cold bath, watch TV or go out for healthy activities like playing games, drinking with friends and so on....ok? Praying to GOD to rid you off that yearning can also work! May God Bless you!

Yearning can lead to creating and this is how much has been done.
Politicians/ leaders yearned for immortality ... they hired Artists who yearned to paint heavenly fresco's and create statues ... so their desire to be immortal has created many fine pieces of architecture, statures, and art master pieces.
However, some yearn and allow this to be their destrution instead of creation. Guess it's all in moderation, and taking inventory of what you have to acomplish what you want. Balancing the risk with the reward.

I would say it's okay in moderation. Certainly. But there comes a point where it becomes an unhealthy infatuation and it will consume your mind. You will be a zombie to all other aspects of life. So be careful. It's a powerful feeling you hold in your hands when you yearn for something, unleashing all the powers of love could ultimately reveal its evil side.

I suppose it depends on what you're yearning for.
