COIE made me quit mainstream comics after 20 years as a fan. Marv Wolfman is a hack. DC continuity is still screwed.

Earth Two in my opinion is long gone since the late 1930's and it was fine and dandy to see both Supermen of Earth 1 and 2 maybe once or twice. The Crisis of Infinite Earths changed that but then they bring most of the Earth 2 characters and revamped to the present (Alan Scott aka the Sentinel). Some of those characters were brought back or revamped during the Infinite Crisis series. Why get rid of characters such as the Doom Patrol, Hal Jordan and JSA and then bring them back to the DC Universe? I personally don't get it. All in all it is a way to have the fans spend more comics and it is very bad for the fans.

Crisis on Infinite Earths killed a lot of good characters like the original Supergirl and the Huntress that was actually Batman and Catwoman's daughter.
I do miss Earth-2, per se, but will have to disagree with you about the rest of your opinion.
What we know today as DC Comics has been in business for over 70 years now, so there are bound to be some continuity glitches along the way, especially since the original Golden Age creators never envisioned the comic book industry lasting this long!
Silver Age editor Julius Schwartz was a big science-fiction fan, so you cannot fault his creative way of bringing back first the concepts (Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Justice LEAGUE, etc) and then reviving the originals.
However, and of course hindsight is 20/20, if Schwartz had just stuck with one earth to begin with, then Crisis on Infinite Earths would never had been needed.
As for Infinite Crisis, the ramifacations of this storyline are still being dealt with, so I'm willing to wait and give DC a chance to work it out for themselves first.

I cannot say that I miss Earth-Two, Three, or Earth-Prime.

I would say that at the time in the 1970's when DC introduced this concept with its many characters, it was fun to read. Marvel, did the exact same thing with its Squadron Supreme, but the always innovative Marvel, knew better than to copy the idea of creating another earth with the exact same heroes. Imagine an Earth -Two Thor? That would not make sense to me. Marvel has created the Ultimates, which sort of looks like the Earth-Two concept.

In DC's defense, though, they were always creating and I must give them credit for trying new, although sometimes corney things. It really gave todays writers and artists something to work with. What DC did was give us readers alot of material. In the end though, it came back to bite them, because, they were thinking, "What the Hell do We Do With All These Characters"?

Well all those worlds, all those heroes and villians once contained, tweaked, enhanced and unfortunately killed off could make a great story concept. And it did in Crisis Infinate. DC had the balls to destroy Barry Allen (The Flash).and Supergirl. I hated that, but Lord knows i respect that. that is just innovated writing.

Listen as elder fans as you and I are, lets be careful to criticize Mr. Wolfman. Yes, as a writer he has killed off some beloved characters and that is what writers do. That is what keeps us interested. John Byrne is another creator whom will destroy major headlining characters. That is comics for you. And since we know that is the way of comics, we also know that Superheroes somehow comeback, i.e. Superman, Green Lantern and Green Arrow. I will not cry for Hawk and Dove. Good Riddance.

I enjoy DC. Believe me this company is the guru of comics. They know how to keep us happy and mad at the same time.

I don't miss Earth-Two, but would'nt it be a great episode of the Justice League cartoon to see Crisis portrayed out? And they have hinted at it in their Season Two episodes of "A Better World". I would enjoy seeing it.

The current editorial, writers, and artists of DC Comics is the most open panel of creators that this company has ever had. They have spoken for many hundreds of hours in front of groups of fans at the various comic conventions. They DO take fan opinion into account about aspects of what they are creating. I've been reading DC for about 40 years and I feel that after the OYL stories are concluded there will be more logic and continuity. Hang in there are you will find that they will give you some bang for your entertainment buck.

No. I liked some of the Earth-Two characters, and continuity between story lines was never that big a deal for me. But as you say, it got real confusing to have several versions of the same character running around.

I hated CoIE - it was long, poorly drawn, and terribly written - but I don't really miss any of the extra earths. The characters I really like are still around, and they don't have to go traipsing around on time-traveling treadmills or what-have-you to meet other important characters.

i do - though it seems like this new earth is meant to have some elements from it - Bats and catwoman have had a daughter, named Helena. That was the earth-2 huntress
