Mom's typically go through your room for a few reasons:
1. You've left it a total mess and she is cleaning up (if that's the case. . . it's YOUR fault)
2. You haven't been telling her the truth and she knows it and she is going to find out what is REALLY going on.
3. She is looking for something specific (like cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, or some of your parents' that is missing and she has GOOD reason to believe you have it.
4. Your trust level in the house is ZERO.
5. Someone else has accused you of taking or hiding something and she believes it because your communication with her is zero or next to zero.
or. . . .
6. She IS invading your privacy and you two need to sit down and have a serious talk as to why that's going on.
At any rate, you need to sit down with your Mom and (calmly) find out what's going on. It's probably not as bad as you or your mother think and talking and clearing the air will solve the issues.

It's her house! Moms usually do it because the are concerend that there child is doing something that she does not agree with. If you have nothing to hide then don't worry. If you have something you don't want her to read first you shouldn't have done it in the first place. She might have a hard time reading it though if you spelled it (trow) in your journal. You do need your privacy i'll give that to you but seriously moms usually do it because they are suspicious of something your doing wrong

Speaking as a mom of a 17 yr old teen. I have never been thrugh her stuff with out reason. Me and my dauther are very open and ohnest but as all teens are there are some things they cant talk about to there parents. And you guys also forget we where teen agers onec .wild and free (believe it or not we where) So we know what it's all about. We are just making sure you are safe and not doing things that could jepordies your health or education or your family.
It's becouse we love our children we do what we do . But if you are completely and brutaly ohenest things can be more smoothly. I mean did i want to be the first one to know when my dauther decided to have sex? last year (tear in my eye) or that now after 2 yrs with her b/f that i am going to be a grandmother couse the rubber broke? ( thats the story and they are sticking with it and so is my brain...)
]But all in all i was always the first one to know. Becouse i we where always open and honest to echother about evrything.
Maybe you feel like she is invading you but she is only doing it becouse she loves you and you have nothing to hide right so dont worry atleast You get your room cleaned...lol (some moms clean to pretend thats all they where doing in your room)
If you want to freak her out get some condoms and a pregnancy test and leave in your dresser that will really freak her out....lol I know my dauthers father did and he freaked i wish i was a fly on the wall that day. but i already knew It's important for your mom to feel close to you and know you are ok .
It's all about the love she has for you and nothing else.
Good luck i hope this helped anything you can im me or email me.

Speaking as a person who was a problem child and now is a grown man. Be thankful she is, it shows she cares and is involved in your life, that she doesn't want to see you end up in a bad path for your life.
You are living in her house, so legally yes, she has every right. Even if you were paying rent she would still have the legal right to.
I do understand your concern in having your mother looking through your things. It doesn't feel very nice. But if you are concerned about her finding something she won't like, then don't do those things, or if you do, don't write about them. You'd be surprised how much parents can learn about you from you, without you even knowing. You can't really hide if your parents want to see what is going on in your life, so roll with it and be "good".
Oh, and if you are keeping a blog, don't you think if I can see they can too!!!

As the mother of 3 daughters, I will not go through heir stuff, unless they give me a reason to. First I confront them (a mother can usually tell if there kids are lying). If they give me a reason such as keeping late hours, weight gain/loss, smell of alcohol/smoke,erratic behavior, I will definitely go through there stuff. I am their mother and I am here to raise them and protect them. I believe in giving them their privacy, but if they are hiding something that will hurt them, I have every right to snoop. Someday when you have children you will understand, I used to get upset with my mother for doing this, but now I understand why she did.

No i would get mad if my mom went through my stuff and I'm 19. but then again she might just be concerned about you. I'm expecting my first daughter and if i have any concerns about her well being then I'm go through her stuff, because i want the best for her. so parents sometime have a reason to.

It is your parents house and they have the right do whatever they wish...now if you are paying rent and some bills then that is another thing but if they are taking care of you then you need to deal with it.
