Most all plant machinery is painted bright color's as a precautionary measure to insure your safety and the safety of the plant itself.. At least thats the way it is in the places that I have worked...

also because once a precedent is established, it's more expensive to vary from it. For example, if you don't want your van to be white, it will cost another £1000 to buy. Same is probably true of machinery, but yellow instead of white.

It's either that or make them wear hi-vi vests.....or could it JUST be something to do with the Health & Safety At Work Act? You may have noticed that most trains have the front painted yellow too, despite the fact that it buggers up the livery. It's all down to the H.S.E.

In answer to your question research in the US has concluded that yellow is the most easily reconisable colour to the human eye. Red is to bold , but yellow is more mellow even to colour blinds.
It stands out from other colours especially darker colours such as grey or black

It's the high-visisbility safety issue they are going for - actually, my big bad ten-tonne 15 metre telehandler is green, and not a lairy luminous shade either.
