It has the common Briggs & Stratton Engine. There is no problem there with getting parts for the engine. Those motors are everywhere.

MTD Products, Inc made mowers and accessories for many independent and chain retail stores like Wards. They still provide repair and restoration parts for many of these units. If you can find the data plate on your mower, check the model and serial numbers on MTD's web site...

Get the numbers off of the chassis and check the MTD website or your local small engine parts place. It was most likely made by MTD.

Wards does not and never did make lawn mowers they are made by someone else and wards just put their name on it. Most likely it is a Murry or MSD. go to a mower repair place and they can cross reference it to who really made it if you give them the model no.

Montgomery Ward was actualy made by Gravely.
If you don't have model numbers, you're up a creek without a paddle
