My grandmother passed away and left us a bunch of her old jewelery, In my bag was her 1929 class ring , I'ts awsome I think the stone is Ivory. Not that I would sell it, I will pass it down to my daughter , but what do you think it's value is ? It is a gold ring & platnum around the stone..

To you it is priceless. To find out the value you would have to have it appraised and they usually charge for that (at a jewellers). But if it is valuable you might want to include that in your homeowners insurance policy (many require separate policies for valuables such as jewellry).

Most of the value is in the gold,I'm afraid. I'm surprised that it would be set with ivory,was it a school color?It may have been an attempt to make the rings affordable,especially in 1929,after the crash,but if her grad. date was in the spring of that year,it would technically have been before the crash,which was in October.I wonder, though,If the stone was an opal, it would loose luster if it wasn't worn,and if it was in a bag with other stuff,the surface could have been scuffed to the point it looks white.Try holding the stone up to a strong light,does it look translucent?Ivory would be opaque.
