Get a job. It will give you self respect. If you really can't then find a hobby that will allow you to create something which you can sell and make money with...knitting, crocheting, sewing for a living, etc. Babysit, dog walk, garden, do something for seniors, volunteer somewhere....sheesh...the list is endless! Find something you like but don't sit and waste away at a computer all day, every day unless it's to work at. Having fun on it a few hours a day is one thing but letting life pass you by, especially when you are young and have the energy and ambition to do things, you really shouldn't waste that opportunity. Circumstances in life may later tie you down, but do what is possible to do while you have the freedom to do it.

Try some voluntary work, this would keep you stimulated and give you some work experience, maybe you could get a job out of it at a later stage. Try some college courses they can teach you how to go about getting employment by properly completing application forms, how to conduct yourself at an interview, how to get some qualifications towards a job etc. Some basic classes are free so check out your local community college. Work towards what you want, don't just take defeat .

You know, you need to have a life of your own too... This is not an "equality thing" it is simply that if you don't, then it will cause friction later in your lives. Have a job, voluntary job, start a business, other things? These will all stop you becoming overdependant upon him, and give you a sense of self; building your self-esteem that will actually help you both in the long run... I am sure that you know this underneath - why else would you be asking?

My first suggestion would be to get a job, but there are many other good ideas too. You can sign up to volunteer at some local community center or hospital, you can pick up a hobby like art or a musical instrument. You could do all the things people with jobs wish they had time to do :)
