I will never collect anything because I can't stand useless junk taking up space.

I collect guns. Not sure why. Most of my friends are target shooters and a gun is a good source of personal protection. I guess I find target shooting on a nice day relaxing. Don't take me the wrong way. I'm not some nut in a militia group that has an itchy trigger finger and warped political views. Many gun owners are law abiding citizens. To get a permit to own guns in my state, I had to get fingerprinted and checked by the F.B.I., my local police, and the state police. I had to take a safety class to learn how to properly handle guns. I had to also get three letters of recommendation to show I'm an upstanding citizen. I certainly have to keep my nose clean to have a pistol permit. Sorry to get on my soap box here. I just hate how the many are judged by the actions of the few or the misconceptions of uninformed people.

Yes - I collect brooches & Boxer dog things. I stared collecting brooches when I was five - my Grandma took me yard sale-ing & gave me a quarter, thinking I would get a toy, book, or some kid thing. I picked up a brooch of a black enameled horse with pearls. She said "That is too grown up, why don't you get something else?" But it really was what I wanted, so she let me get it. I now have probably around 40 brooches. Most are from the '40s to 60's, and I always remember getting that first one. I wear them everday, with jeans & t-shirts to nice clothes. It is kind of my signature thing. The Boxer dog stuff I started collecting in the 80's when I worked for veterinarians & got my first Boxer. The breeder I got him from has Boxer things all over her house - mostly very nice, upscale china to hand-carved Boxer statues. I have all kinds myself, from china to stuffed. It's always fun when I find one in an unexpected place. Like once, I was leaving a kind of hillbilly flea market/muzzle loaders shoot thing I went to with my 12 year old neice, and saw a Boxer statue on someone's table. I did a u-turn & got it, and nearly lost my neice! I collect both of these things because they appeal to me, I suppose there is no other way to explain the 'why'.

I collect Hall teapots (but I think I have enough now) because I think they're pretty. I also collect nativity scenes from different parts of the world, like Haiti, Indonesia, and South American and African countries. I think they are precious because each one is so region specific and I like to see that He is for everyone in every way. No white Jesus for me.

I collect coins.

I started collecting because my dad started buying them for me, I guess he thought I needed a hobby. Well, I still have that collection, never purchased a coin for myself, but thanks to dad I have a collection worth about 10k. That will come in nice if I ever really need the money.

As a child, I collected stamps, greeting cards, and feathers. Now I have responsibilities and have no time to collect anything. Nevertheless, people collect things because they are subconsciously collecting love for themselves. Subconsciously, they see material possessions as a substitute for love they feel they are not receiving.

I dont know if u would qualify this ...
I collect shirts...but only those that i could wear.

When i was growing up, i had very few shirts that i sometimes wouldnt want to go out. So now that I have the resource, i buy almost everything that i want...but as long as i could wear them. If I could or would'nt, i wont buy it or just give it away..

LOL.

I have lots of them.
