depends on your ability.
Do you able to absorb the lecture just by your ear and remember it clearly?
If you easily forget things, better take a note.
Some people absorb well if they use all of the senses (eye - reading and writing again, ear - hearing lecture) some may only need one sense to retain the information.

Sometimes. If you have a big test coming up and that part of the class is important for the test then, yes it is very important to take notes. It depends on what you are going to be taking notes but I like to take notes even if I think I won't use them because I like to be safe than sorry when a test comes up.

Yes,it is be important. If you think you are weak in any subject, then you take the notes of those subjects. Try to write the notes in your own words which will help you understand it more easily. Now it's up to you.

Thank you for your question!
Yes taking notes is really very important. It is a great help for your exam preperation. If you have prepared note well then you can surely get good marks in your subject. Note is the copy, where you write your homeworks with beautiful handwriting , so your handwriting may praise your teacher.

taking notes are of two different types. listening carefully the lecture and taking a sum total of the listening into hints and note form and elaborating them to tune up your brain is what is very crucial than just copying whatever is written in the notice board of the class room or scribbling whatever is discussed about in a class room atmosphere!! not all can remember what all read, but then the notes ofcourse helps us to rush through before the examination, provided the notes are not as bulky as the texts!!

Ofcourse taking notes and paying attention is important.
U have make ur own note, by highlighting those which are the main points. U have to remember ur points thoroughly, study logically, dont go just blah blah blah... pay attention on main points which u have been thought.

IFF u r doing ur independent Study and doesn't depend on the respective teacher thn there s no need of taking notes.........
Yep if u attentive in class and grab the teachers' lesson thn it becomes very much necessary as whn we listen to our teacher ,WE START MAKING THE IMAGE BY OUR OWN IN OUR MIND AND UNDERSTAND DAT WELL AND AT THE XAMS TIME IT BECOMES DIFFICULT TO RECALL THE SAME FROM THE BOOK........AS IF WE WRITE WITH OUR OWN A CARBON COPY GETS STORED IN OUR MIND ONCE although in the secondary part of our memory hence becomes easy to remeber by the notes the sayings and lessons of the TEACHER.

Yes, and there's a simple physiological reason why.
When you take notes, you have recorded the information in at least two different modalities, which is an excellent way to reinforce learning.
Some modalities are visual, oral, aural, kinesthetic, and one more I'm missing.
