Why is it, i see many more Japanese girls than japanese guys who visit USA and how to talk to them?

When i see japanese people in the street who are tourists or students , it's always girls. i live in california. And being that these girls are 1) so busy doing their things 2)are scared of me and my face 3) may have boyfriends back in their country 4)may already have enough american friends or foreign friends that they don't need anyone else to bother them...should you eve bother talking to them? i have tried to talk to some when they are in the bus or something.. and they really seemed like they don't want to be bothered.

I speak some japanese, not perefct but enough... i've talked to some even in japanese and they seem to be bothered.. others i've talked to have responded nicely..but most, seemed like they don't like to talk to me
