HELP!! My dad is taking my 6 year old out into a swamp today - it might just be my mother's fear but is this safe???
We moved here in the past year and I cannot get used to this place!! I haven't even seen a swamp yet, but we did visit the Alligator Farm, and all I can think is they LIVE in the swamps - UGGH!!! HELP, they will be taking the boat, is there anything I should know, do, before they go???
Thanks.

Bigfoot creatures in Louisiana

There are tales of huge hairy man-like beasts that roam the forested, swampy regions of Louisiana.
Strange sounds being heard coming from the edge of the forest. Screams that are heard, but not soon forgotten.
The Honey Island Swamp Monster, Plum Creek Monster and swamp wookie are names of some Bigfoot creatures in Louisiana.

it appears that evidently folk (above) replied the question without analyzing it! the certainty that the human beings draining the swamp use .22 high quality weapons to shoot those issues shows to me that they are not alligators (additionally the caricature you defined). no person who's time-honored with of something approximately firearms (or alligators) could use a .22 on an alligator. Who is time-honored with of what it replaced into??? that's possible it ought to have been a mammal, like a weasel? yet i'm fascinated sufficient so as that I despatched an email to The Louisiana Gulf Coast Herpetological Society. deliver me your email and that i will share their reaction with ou.

Watch where you step. I have been in the swamps in Florida hunting and one time I took a step and then I was stuck up to my waist. It was all my friend could do to pull me out. A six year old would have disappeared out of sight. Make sure he stays in the boat.

If you ever go back into Wooly Swamp son you better not go at night
There's things out there in the middle of them woods
That'd make a strong man die from fright
There's things that crawl and things that fly
And things that creep around on the ground
And they say the ghost of Lucias Clay gets up and it walks around.

I was stationed in the swamps of south carolina for many years. As long as they stay in the boat, the worst thing i can think of is the skeeters, dont get out of the boat though..

I'd go with them and watch the gators in the wild. I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. If your Dad knows the swamp your son will be alright.

It'll be alright, those swamp critters are usually full from feeding all night, just tell him not to fall for that old meat around his neck for safety trick and he should be ok as long as he doesn't bark like a dog!

I would not let my 6 year old go into the swamp. Too many bad things can happen.

All sorts of critters live in the swamp...alligators, snakes, spiders, etc. It might be the redneck in me, but I hope Grandpa takes a gun with him just in case.

Sorry Erika,"I can't answer this one",living in Nebraska all we have to worry about is the kids getting lost in the corn fields,or having cows step on them.
I can't compete with gators.
