I got induced last week. They will wait until you are exactly aweek from your due date. I would call him Monday and tell him you wanted induced. He will set it up this coming week

You are 39 weeks so that's 1 week from your due date so he should have already scheduled it if he was going to induce you since you've made it this far he may wait until you actually hit your due date and go from there.
I was induced with my last 2 the first time I was induced it was planned a week in advance and it was because I was gaining 2-3lbs a week and was retaining water very bad. The second time I was induced it was planned about a month in advance because of what I did the last pregnancy. The date ended up being changed and I was called to come in the next night to be induced because the baby's wasn't moving as much as he should and he did have to be taken right after delivery to be worked on because he didn't want to cry.
You are just about done I know the last week is the worst. Also when do you go back to the Dr? Because if you go back like Monday or something tell him you don't want to go any longer and you want to be induced ASAP.
But I must warn you a induced labor is much harder then if you go into labor on your own. Try having sex and nipple stimulation (didn't work for me) might work for you.
Good Luck and Congratulations.

he may not have to induce, most doctors prefer not to actually. It really is best to wait as long as possible and let it happen in its own time so long as its not harming you. I went a week past my due date which is normal for a first baby. Sex is a great way to help induce labor...about 4 hours after intercourse w/ the hubbins I started having contractions. There is something I cant remember what its called in the semen which can thin out the cervix

Inducing labor carries a lot of risks many doctors will not discuss with you. Many babies go into fetal distress and can not handle the unnaturally strong contractions. This can cause problems like meconium aspiration, and greatly increase your chances of needing an emergency cesarean delivery. It is really best to wait until the labor begins on its own, with little to no interference. It is an unwise and unethical doctor who induces delivery before 42 weeks, UNLESS there is oligohydramnios (low amniotic fluid), IUGR, pre-eclampsia/ high blood presssure developing in the mother, or placental function is declining. These can be monitored through stress and non-stress tests, and ultrasound. It is not worth the risks, to you and to the baby, but then again, this is just my humble opinion!!! Congrats on your little one!

you have to dilate to 10 centimeters for a natural birth and that usually takes about an hour per centimeter when you go into labour regardless of wether you are induced or not. There is really no benefit for the mother, it's mainly a tool used by hospitals to quicken the procedure and free up bed space. Lots of hospitals don't want to have a room and staff tied up for over 10 hours while the mother has a long labour.

I would avoid that. Inducing labor is a lot harder on you and the baby than going into labor naturally. The give you drugs, then the labor comes to fast and the baby's heart rate is fast. So they give you another drug to counterract this then your labor starts to go to slow. So, they give you some more of drug A and this repeats. Also, I hear it hurts a hell of a lot more. I know you really want the kid out of there by now, but will waiting hurt the baby?

I don't think they'll induce that early. they like to wait until your over a week past your due date.
i am a mother of a 3 year old and i am dead serious by saying playing with your nipples is supposed to help induce labor.
good luck!

They usually wont induce labour unless its really needed, and trust me you dont want to be induced, the contractions come on to fast and hard there is no time in between them, i thought i was going to die until i gave in and had the epidural, which worked wonders
