Many people from the philippines go out of the country to seek work and send the money back to their familys. After talking to one young filipino girl I feel the people are being taken advantage of. This girl works as a servant from 7 am to 11 pm. She is to ambarassed to tell her family about her situation; especially, after she had to borrow money for her placement fees. She works in Hong Kong for a family.

Life in the Philippines is hard, that is why a lot of the Filipinos dream of leaving their country (even in exchange of being away from their immediate family) so that they could earn more. Sometimes, even when they are in situations where they feel they are being exploited, they would just choose to accept and be quiet about it. It's really sad... but that's how people who are in survival mode would just do.

our government system is not as good as america's. people suffer yet the good thing with us, filipinos is that we know how to take things lightly even if its killing us already. we are hospitable, friendly, and the most important of all, HAPPY. we have close-family ties, and even if filipinos are discrimated in other countries, that doesnt bother us too much. after all, it's our family who matters most. we work hard and u can put us at any field of discipline just for the sake of our families. we can do almost everything. the only filipinos who are dumb are the ones runnning the country.

I was set up with a girlfriend from the Philippines. I know what you mean. THIS gal that I knew said that girls dream of going out of the country to work, teaching English, or whatever they can get jobs doing in other countries. It aggitated me that my ex-girlfriend was only getting $3-$5/hour teaching English in Oman, and her sisterr also, and sheand her sisterr were paying for a younger brother and sister, to go to school, for nursing, back in The Philippines. I WAS MAD!! I told her, I HAD TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING MYSELF, WHY CAN'T THEY?? She just humbly said, "It joys me to help them."
