Yes it's a rip off.
Count yourself lucky - I'm £190 a year!
(But for me that's just two & a half tanks of fuel).
Split it over a year & it doesn't seem so bad, just about £12 a month for you.
Perhaps your car has a high CO2 output because of the design rather than a big, engine.

nope no mistake, Ur car tax is calulated on how much carbon Ur car pumps out now of the exhaust.
b4 it was done on engine size, not any more
Ur right it is a rip off, i have a newish 1.1, and the tax is cheaper on my old 1.6 capri
