Smoky eyes are not the trend anymore.
This summer you have to go toward a light make up for your eyes but a colorful lipsticks.
Anyways,it is your choice.i also have green eyes, and it is fine with me,when i get smoky eyes.
Don't use a dark black color, a mixture of Grey and black is better.

I have blue/green eyes and I find that black eyeshadow makes the eyes way smaller.
I use a dark shade of grey or dark silver and line the top eyelid with black eyeshadow to get that smokey look.

use a lighter brown on your lids, and then right where it extends to your brow bone use a darker brown along the line... you will need to rub it in very well using a brush for this to loook well! Use a dark brown eyeliner to increase the pop!
(I have green eyes too!)

Trace a line of brown liner pencil and then put on your mascara. When mascara is fully dry, take a brush and sweep over line.
