Algebreic thinking asks you to take numbers not as numbers, but as variables. I would consider it a mathematics course with scientific tendencies.
For example, if x + 4 = 7, then you have to be able to think of 7 as a variable - interchangeable and movable. The same thing for the number 4 and x. But clearly, there is an "approachable path" that leads to the answer in the lowest number of steps. And while your brain may jump at the chance to yell x=3, you have to prove your statement, which makes of algebra (and all maths thereafter) an intricate cat-and-mouse game with journalistic vision. This vision, I must say, is crucial when the answer isn't obvious.
For example:
(a à b) à c
= a à (b à c)
In this case, you must look at each variable independently and consider its effect on the whole.

I'll answer "how," not "what," as most of the responders here have.
Algebra is like playing with a blob of clay: you are allowed to take what you have, and mold it into various forms, but at the end of the process the clay is equivalent to the clay you started with. As a friend of mine likes to say, algebra is a psychological art. For example, given some information like
3x+5=20
you can rewrite it as
x=(20-5)/3
and then use arithmetic to find x=5.
But the information is the same--you are just writing it in a more obvious way. Algebra as a subject is the collection of such methods for rewriting given information in a more pleasant form.

Algebra its not too hard tough compare to calculus. Wat i think math is somewhat important for our daily lives. It effect our job, profession, and the way we think and calculate. So, better be good in algebra cos it helps us not only counting $$ but also counting anything else faster,
Ps. Our algebra is no need to be perfect to become a succesfull person in a future. Wat we need are lots of experiences and creativities.

algebra is real maths, it's why numerals were invented.
problems are not presented in numerical form in real life they have first to be converted into numbers for an answer to be given.
