In a way they kinda are useless. Today they are more of a status symbol than anything else. The Parliment holds the power and the Queen/King has almost no say whatsoever. I mean, if the King or Queen really wanted something the parliment would probably give it to them. And they also recieve a lot of money in taxes so they are probably costing the people of Great Britain more money than anything else.

The Royal family in no way is the Government. Years and Years ago they were! Now they are just a status, figure head. They make no rules or laws. Every thing they have belongs to the country of England.

All royal families in Europe that don't really have a governing function still keep the country together by giving the citizens something by which they can feel connected (for example, all Brits like to read about their royals in the tabloids ;-) ), and they're supposed to set a good example.

ABSOLUTELY- They are basically the ultimate Trailer Park Thrash family pretending to be the heads of the Church of England----------All of the Queen's children screw around and most are divorced. Both Prince Phillip and Prince Charles in their heydays would screw anything that walked. Princess Diana used to have over 19 official lovers! All their princess have been cuckolded by their wives !!!
Lucky for them that the sentimental Brits don't mind spending millions in supporting the pomp and pageantry. The Empire is wiped out, I guess they feel happy having some memories.

The British royal family is the government for the people of the United Kingdom. Without them, the country would fall apart. I mean, for us, the democratic government helps keep things in order. So, the monarchy in Britain does the same too.

Good for nothing except causing trouble. Perhaps good for inspiring comedies. Also the longest running real life soap opera. Yup - good for nothing. They demonstrate that quality and class are not inherited - that being from a time when being addicted to violence was the only criteria for tyranny which mattered. They frequently make the UK the laughing stock of the World. There is a village in Greece which is missing its idiot - Phil and the UK has to put up with him.

They have their royal functions such as to travel for diplomatic people. The Queen must give a speech in Parleament every so often and if helpful when it comes to accepting certain things that will affect the country, although she was no power to do the things royalty did in the past

It's an anti-democratic movement that stands in the way of political progress.
Other countries get a chance to elect their head of state; can you imagine Bush's family going on forever in charge of the USA

Totally useless and good for nothing at all but quite costly to maintain! British are blindly traditional in many matters that make no sense.

They're not completely useless. Without the Queen you could have a Nazi Germany situation with a governmant in complete control. She doesn't use power she withholds it so it can't be used for a dictatorship of something.
