Radiology is the branch of medicine which is concerned with generating internal images of the body, not just with X-rays.

It started off being all about X-rays, but now it has moved on to include many different froms of test including CT, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, Positron Emission Tomography, Nuclear Medicine (where radioactive isotopes are given to patients and used to image specific body areas by radiation detection).

It is a very varied area of medicine.

Radiology is a branch of medicine.

It is concerned with the use of x-rays and other ways of imaging the human body to study disease and illness.

Doctor who want to specialize in this field typically finish medical school and then begin to do rotations in this field.

Radiologists are very different from other doctors because they have to know a lot about physics and they often like to sit in the dark and stare at pictures (or at least that's what their job involves).

They like to say "correlate clinically" which means - have a look at the patient yourself - don't ask me what the x-ray indicates :)
