Too much potential for things going wrong at the owners expense.

1) What happens if the sensor malfunctions and needs to be recalibrated.
Will you necessarily know that it malfunctioned?
What steps will you have to take to correct the problem? Will you have to replace or recalibrate the sensor at the your expense? Will you have to hire an attorney and miss work to fight it in court?

2) If you have to replace the sensor, what happens if it is on back order? Will you have to rent a car to avoid more speeding tickets? Even if they are dismissed, it can be time consuming and labor some to make sure that they are completely removed from your record.

3) If you get speeding tickets due to a faulty sensor, what happens to your insurance rates? Typically, they skyrocket. As we know, the insurance companies would rather collect more from you rather than less from you because first, and foremost, they are in it for the money – not customer satisfaction. Good luck fighting them.

4) What if a friend or relative borrows your car and gets the ticket? Who is paying for it? Will you definitely be able to collect from them or will it come out of your pocket? Again, who will ultimately pay for your higher insurance rates? Since the sensor is not a camera, you cannot claim that it was another driver – the state would only want to collect the fine – whether justified or not.

For these reasons and more, I would have to say that it is a good thought but a bad idea.

Overall, I like the idea of GPS but even GPS has been responsible for causing accidents when the driver takes his eyes off of the road to focus on the GPS map. If the accident rate remains relatively low, some form of GPS will most likely become standard equipment on most cars just as AM/FM CD Stereo and keyless remote entry are now standard feature on many cars.

If it starts there, and is successful to raise revenue for the community, they will try it elsewhere. Brave New World coming up. Crime immediately punished. The Big Eye watching. Soon, with advances, every politically incorrect thought will be zapped. Then it will be unlawful to even think that speed sensors were the start of it all. So while it is still lawful, and I still have my freedom, I freely advise to put tape on your mouth and never repeat this again. You could inadvertently put this idea into some pea brained bureaucrat's head. You have to be careful.

All autos have gears, and maximum have 5 (some events autos have 6 speeds, i imagine). that is going to both describe a automobile as 5 % computerized or 5 % guide transmission. Semi-computerized in hardship-free words applies to a gun, i imagine. yet some autos could have ought to correctly be defined as having vehicle-stick selection. it is the position it is an computerized, yet has an selection that you'll be able to up-shift and down-shift manually in case you want to. Mine has that -- that is variety of interesting.
