It is really hard to say. As the saying goes "actions speak louder than words." What do his actions say? I know people who compliment their spouses but turn around and cheats on them. While words and compliments are nice, it is actions that really count. How does your friend feel about it? If she is okay with it then it really shouldn't be a problem. You must remember that like people, all relationships are different. What works for some may not work for others. If your friend is having a problem with it then she should talk to him. One of the most important devices in marriage is effective communication. I will keep your friend and her husband in my thoughts and prayers. Peace and God bless.

TO BE A GOOD HUSBAND
1. Eat appreciatively of her cooking and express it often in words.
2. Set aside at least one night each week for a "Night-out" with her. 3. Have only praise for her, when talking with others. 4. Work together with your own children. 5. Develop spare-time hobbies that you can share with each other. 6. Plan many events together, rather than each going separate ways. 7. Have frequent words of promise for her.
8. Share all plans, problems, efforts and benefits of your home.
9. Remember her and the entire family daily in your personal prayers.
10. Remember all anniversaries and other special events.
A good husband should be deaf and a good wife blind.
- Montaigne
First of all they do not know anything about the word LOVE.
Men treat women as if they are meant only for sex and preparing food, when they are hungry. that is all.
Another thing is that, almost all the mean are non-sentimental, non-committal, egoistic, careless in every thing. They are not interested to learn or know or show or maintain human relationship principles. They are very self-centered too. They don't understand as to what is family, who is wife, why is children, why he was produced by his parents, what he is doing, where he is going, what are his responsibilites as a son, husband, father and as a citizen, they do not know what is his future will be when he becomes old and useless. At the same time they will have unwanted ego too.
How to change such foolish men? and it still remains a question.

Some people don't know how to show love or communicate how they feel. My ex husband was that way. Did he love me? He says he did. He told me he just didn't know how to tell me or show me. It all depends on what your friend is willing to live with. Does she think he loves her? In our case..a non communicator marrying a non communicative person. Sex was not a problem..but the rest of the time very quiet.

Love can be beyond words. Some people aren't great talkers. At the same time, there are other ways you can show someone you love them. A look of love in your eyes. A warm smile. Trying to do things that please the other. If none if this is happening, then there is trouble in paridise.

I don't know how he feels but my dad has always told me to listen politely to a boy but make your decisions on what you see. Words are great but seeing and feeling is better. Would you want your friend with someone that says, "I love you - Your beautiful, etc" and the next day is out with someone else? I'd rather not hear it but have the person always there.

If he is a quiet person, he may be the type of person that don't express their feelings as well as he probably should. It doesn't mean he don't love her!! Everyone shows love in their own ways. If it doesn't bother your friend why let it bother you. stay away from there marital issues.. unless she comes to you with fear of abuse or something, otherwise don't be to quick to judge, cause obviously hes doing something right, or she wouldn't still be there!

How do you know this? He might not say anything in front of others. Some people think showing love in front on others shows they are weak. Just because you think or don't see doesn't mean a thing.

Some men are not verbal about their feelings but are extremely good physical communicators. Hopefully he makes her feel loved with other gerstures (holding, cuddling, hugging) When a man can love his wife openly in public...even if just holging her hand, puling her chair out, opening her car door, ec...he really loves her. If he is just existant in the relationship..it is questionable.
Just remember there are different forms of communication and if she is unhappy she needs to talk to him about it not you. How is he going to know?

I am sure we all need love, and what is love means?....Is it mean I love you but I won't tell you, I won't show you, I just keep my love as a noun, never be a verb.....?Would it that be 'LOVE' that we all deserved?......LOVE IS WONDERFUL if we can not get we just give..and give...to someone who is only wants to take and take..but we will give and give...untill we give it all...no more to give...then may be oneday your friend will get it back from her husband :-)
They relationship would be much healthier if they both learn how to give and how to take. :-)
note: a standard of being a good manner is to thanks people when do good things for you, if this simpleiest thing he can't do it, what's else he can?

My husband compliments me more than I do him and he says he loves me more than I do because he beats me to it. I will let you know that I would give my life for my husband, but I wish sometimes he would give me the chance to say "I love you" first.
