Testosterone DOES increase libido. Doctors who prescribe bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for (peri)menopausal women often add a little testosterone to the compound specifically for that purpose. But it should only be done with a doctor's monitoring. He/she should periodically check your hormone levels and prescribe based on your specific needs.

If you haven't reached menopause yet and feel you need a little boost to your libido, you could try a progesterone cream, which you can buy over-the-counter. Younger women sometimes find that helpful.

It's amazing how people (specially men) don't have the slightest ideia about what testosterone is... Testosterone IS the one and only hormone responsible for libido!! Even in women! Yes... Women also have testosterone running in their arteries (much smaller dosages of course) which is responsible for the libido in women. Someone said that testosterone is a bodybuilding supplement? For christ sake... Read a little bit. Testosterone is the hormone responsible for the male characteristics, like body hair, deep voice, increased strenght and muscle size, etc. That's why the relationship to ARTIFICIALLY produced testosterone is sometimes taken by bodybuilders (the so called steroids). The name steroid actually justifies because testosterone is a steroidal hormone (a chemical property)......... There's so much more to tell.. I would have to write all day

yes, it does increase sexual desire in both men and women.

in some circumstances, increasing testosterone levels through drugs suchs as, alcohol, steroids, spanish fly can make one more prone to vilence and impulsive behaviour, also risky behaviours that could lead to injury or even death...depending on the circumstances.

No, testosterone is not a sex stimulant by itself, but manifests secondary male characteristics. It can create problems in prostatic cancer and cause other side-effects. It should not be used unless it is advised by a physician and for very definite reasons.
