If you all can be civil, then yes (if he wants to come). Otherwise have another family member stay in the room with you.

Giving birth is hard work and very emotional. You need (I think) to have people who are there to support you and love you while you do it.
One of the things that made an enormous difference to me was having my mother, my sister and my husband there encouraging me and reassuring me.
If you feel as though your baby's father might try to control the experience (which he won't be able to do but it might upset you), you might be better to have someone else there and let him see the babe immediately afterwards.
It's ok to put your needs first in this situation I think.
Good luck.

It sounds as if he could ruin the birth experience for you if he is there. He'll tell you how to breathe, how to push, how to nurse etc. Without being mean, tell him you would like to give birth alone (you'll have enough stress without having a man you don't love with you) or with a close friend who can calm you, but that he can be at the hospital to see the baby as soon as he or she is born. Good luck.

i think you should at least give him the opportunity, to be there, after all it is his child too. the two of you may not have worked out, but he needs to have a relationship with his child. no better way to do that then to be there on day one.

If you want him involved in your childs life then yes have him there. He may end up resenting you and the unborn baby if you don't have him there.
