You cannot find the square root of a minus numbers, as a plus times a plus is a plus and so is a minus times a minus and as squaring something means a number times itself so you can't have the plus times minus or minus time plus combination which gives a minus number.
You can, however, have the "imaginary number" 4i

Square root of -16 does have an answer over the complex numbers. The answer is 4i where i=square root of -1. We use the fact that i squared = -1 then we have:
4i * 4i = 16 i^2 = 16 * (-1) = -16
hence 4i is the "square root" of -16.

You can't take the square root of a negative number. The answer is "undefined." I can't believe other people actually gave you an answer - hopefully they don't become math teachers. Think about this one, how would you get a negative number if you squared a number - it is impossible, because a negative multiplied by a negative is a positive. As it is impossible to obtain a negative square, it is therfore impossible to obtain the square root of a negative number as well.

this in basic terms skill -3+4 and -3-4 so which you have 2 solutions that are -3+4=-one million and -3-4=-7 {-one million,-7} and the quadratic formulation is surely -b+or- the sq. root of b^2-4ac all divided by applying 2

Everybody who said 4 or -4, YOU'RE WRONG. That's high school math there. It's impossible to square any number and get a negative. A pos. # x a pos. # = a pos. #. A neg. # x a neg. # = a pos. #. In order to get a neg. #, you have to multiply a pos. # and a neg. #, which are 2 different numbers. Everybody who said 4 x imaginary number, YOU'RE RIGHT. Good for you

no number when multiplied by its self can give a negative number as an answer. - ( -4 squared equals 16 ) therefore your question has no answer
