Cute means:-
1. obviously contrived to charm; "an insufferably precious performance
2. attractive especially by means of smallness or prettiness or quaintness
3. I also heard cute also means UGLY but ADORABLE!
Pretty means:-
1. usually said of a woman or girl: facially attractive, especially in a feminine way.

I was impossibly cute when I was younger...and it had its advantages. I was carded way, way past the minimum age. On the other hand, if I didn't have my ID with me, I'd get thrown out of places for being underage. It is also a drag to always be told you are soooo cute (blah). I'd rather be considered pretty...but remember...it is in the eye of the beholder.

Cute for personality- its demeanor is attractive. Pretty is nice for appearance, it suggests a physical beauty. However cute can seem babyish to describe someone, whereas being told that you are pretty is a real compliment.

pretty is better. its not good to be cute when you are older. cause thats just irritating. trying to be young when you know you are old. haha. but people older then me still pretend to be young. hahaha.

it dpends beauty is in the eye of the beholder. the girl i'm in love with is stunningly attractive and every time i talk to her its as if she is trying to deter me from her by showing her darker side. but to answer your question to be perfectly honest i think smart, funny, amazing, and generally attractiveness matters. but i prefer qualities in cute girls to pretty bitches
