You answered your own question
"Many resolutions have woefully failed in the past".
There is no reason to believe that any resolutions will succeed in the future.
Especially when a people believe that it is gods will to blow themselves up and kill as many non believers as possible in the process. Just what kind of diplomacy or resolution is going to have any effect on a people driven that insane by religion?

oh Hell no. The arabs & the Israelis have hated each other since the dawn of time. One piddly little meaningless UN resolution that might as well be written on toilet paper for all it's worth is going to have no effect on anything. It just makes Kofi feel like he is doing something.

Israel never ever honoured any UN Resolution in the past, so don't expect much from this one as they have already started massive ground offencive against Lebanon.
Israel is above the law till the time it is supported by USA & Europe.

The land grab that took place in 45-48 will never be forgotten by the Arabs. The Jews took the land by force that they surrendered many centuries ago. This was criminal and unjust and the Jews are the real perpetrators here.
