“If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods . . . thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people . . . If thou shalt hear Certain men . . . have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods . . . Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants ofthat city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword” (Deuteronomy13:6-15).

“Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection” (Koran 9:29).

Less violent than Christians. Christian nations get into more wars than non-Christian nations. I learned that in a graduate school class in International and Domestic Violence. When I was looking at crime rates, the lowest are in the Moslem nations. USA, with its Christian majority, has the highest crime rate of any nation in the world.

When Christianity ruled Europe, there was Feudalism, no Democracy, or human values, and lots of violence.
These days there is Democracy, human values and a strong social net.
These days, it seems to be Islam that's causing the violence, because some of them misunderstand the Koran, a book which is about keeping the peace, but which was written in a very turbulent time of war. (The same can be said for the christian bible) The Korans ways where not designed for the 21st century Europe.
We are much more priviliged these days here in Europe than the people were in those days.
Do not forget that.

you don't seen to know about the old testament god and the new testament god, that's the whole reason jesus died on the cross.
As for violent religions, the US/UK are in it for the oil, they have nothing to do with religion, but it suits the muslims to see it this way, as then it helps justify their murdering of women and children. Don't mistake me, the states and UK are pretty good at it was well, but there is never an excuse to kill women and children.
It's interesting to note that wherever Muslims set up home in Europe, a fanatical, fundamental, disheartened core group of muslims get together and figure out ways to murder people. I suppose I could blame islam, as it does specificlly say to wipe out the infidels (non believers). I would have to say christianity ismore tolerant than islam as the chrsitians don't go around killing people because they are not christian, whereas the muslims do. Remember, Bush/Blair are not christain, they are people wanting to steal arab oil and control the world, that is all.

All religions are designed to lead people into conflict because they were developed thousands of years ago when people were very uneducated, just having discovered the written word and language. Religions do not promote education of the masses because when the people learn that the reasons for "god" as the answer for everything is no longer factual, the "god" loses importance, and the religious leaders lose power and income. They might even to learn to work in some manner to support themselves instead of stealing from the masses of followers. Religion is the cause for war, poverty, hatred, starvation and disease.

of course islam is not violent! and of course as in any other religion there are some fanatics just abusing religion to justify their action - unfortunately way too often violence! if we look back in any big religions past: there was always a lot of violence! and still today some crazy christians are fighting wars in the name of god, some crazy muslims fight wars in the name of allah and also some crazy jews are fighting wars referring to religion. too bad, there's too many fanatic people on this planet that don't understand, that this planet as it is today is a result of evolution OR if it was created by a god then god didn't create man to kill eachother while discussing how to call him!

ALL religions are violent. Whether you read Tora, Bible, or Quran, violence is present in all of them at some point or another. The good part is that all religions evolve and change over time. And they do so for the better.

A religion is only as violent as the people want it to be. NO matter what is written in which book, there is always (and there must always) be the motivation of the individual to commit violence. One has to overcome a certain inhibition to inflict pain to someone else. Those inhibitions can be reduced by training, by education, by habit, by drugs, etc., but no human is born violent. It is the inheritance of violence and the people who taught us that made us violent.

Iam not a Muslim, but i have experienced many religions,Islam included;and i know no one religion preaches Violence of men against other men.Almost all religions believe in peaceful resolution of conflict. This is the only reason why The late Yasser Arafat shook Ariel Sharon's Hand!
Think about it.

Half of Americans don't believe in the bible genius. Personally, I think all religions are a bunch of nonsense. Funny,.. why is it that people who claim to be so religious, are the ones who are always ranting and pissed off?? Do what you like and leave us alone.

What, may I ask, is the question?
Anyway, islam is not a violent religion. People need to realize who the people are that are being violent. It's extremist. Any religion can turn violent when you come across extremist.
