don't just turn the finger around and point the blame back at blacks...just simply say what your problem is...if you have one

I am a white man who grew up in the South (Texas). Most of the people who I associate with don't have a "problem" per se with blacks, at least not intellectually. They reject racial bias and bigotry outright. The problem that we (Having discussed this at length) realize we have is a more subtle and incipid one. We grew up in a time (I'm 43) when racial prejudice was a way of life, in our families and "white" society. We saw lived out in front of us the way that black people were treated as not quite as good as white people. Oh sure, when asked, most would deny that they practiced this type of denigration and devaluing of African Americans, but in every little spoken phrase and act it showed. Sure, there were those who were outright, outspoken bigots. It's easy to not be like that, but far harder to rid yourself of the subtle everyday slights and porejudices I learned from my family and social circle.
I personally have tried to rid myself of this mindset. I reject as an intellectual exercise, but it is also a matter of the heart, and a man's heart, the core part of him is much harder to change. I finally realize that it is only something that God can do. I am not completely sure how that is, because some of the worst bigots I have ever known, and some of the outright meanest people I have ever met were church folk. But that's another discussion entirely.

A customer of mine who happens to be black once asked me who is the most racist person in America? After a few wrong answers he tells me a "70yo black man". I was shocked when he said this but his point was that only blacks that have seen the worst....hangings or the way blacks have been mistreated in the past have the most hate (I live in the south). When we compare attitudes of blacks today versus yesterdays theirs of course is a different view of racism based on the individuals experiences. So my point is that there have been many changes but there are still some attitudes lingering around and I can understand why you ask this question.

It isn't an issue of color... but of choice.

It is common in black culture to portray the victim. Which Jesse Jackson has perfected. Blaming white people for every problem is not a way to get support. Sure if you life sucks I am sure you want to hear that it is because of racism. But most white people could care less.

In my view, to focus on the past is never a way to plan for the future. Blacks were given a bum deal for a long time. But after the 1960's everything has gotten pretty good. But with things like affirmative action, minorities are again setting themselves apart. Any program which forces people to make decisions based on race is racism. Even if that program was invented to combat it.

I for one was not born into a world of racism. Being born in 1979 I personally have nothing to do with it. Nor do I care. In fact I don't care about most things which happened before I was born. And you shouldn't either.

So let me say: You are not a victim. Stop focusing on the past. And stop feeling like everyone is out to get you. Most people just don't care.

Anyone who isn't an idiot only has a problem with the ones that believe that "equality" involves them being treated better than everyone else. Like crazy feminists. Also the ones that are just stupid like people in general tend to be, which has nothing to do with race.

I am white and have no problem with blacks. And neither does anyone of my friends, that I know of. I live in an all white town. Maybe that's why I don't have a problem, but I doubt it. I respect all people no matter what color.

My wife is white and she doesn't have a problem with blacks and she's from the South. She judges people on a person by person basis. I find that a lot of blacks have a problem with whites.

Most of us don't have any problem, just as most blacks have no problems with whites; It is always the few people that do have a problem are overplayed in our media and causes the appearance of a problem.

It's racism. Look around the world. People hate everyone who is different from themselves. People are so egotistical that they hate everyone who has a different religion or nationality also.
