1. If swimming in a lake, ocean, stream-always swim with a buddy.
2. Never dive in to a pool, lake, stream, or ocean without knowing exactly how deep the water is and if there are hidden ridges, rocks, or logs which could cause paralysis. Depths that are moderate, play it safe and go it feet first.
3. Don't drink the water.
4. Shower immediately afterward.
5. Don't go farther than your skill enables.
6. If you aren't skilled at swimming, take a noodle, or a life jacket.
7. Be smart, be careful, a pool or lake is no place for arrogance and egos.

Guys - don't wear Speedos unless you are competitive swimmers.
Girls - the french cut swimsuits look better on you (unless you are fat!)

Get a good set of goggles. Don't wear a swim cap unless you are competing or a girl with long hair.

Stretch

When sharing swimming lanes swim on the right-side of the lane and let faster swimmers around you.

Don't stand at the end of the lane when a swimmer approaches - get out of the way so he/she can do a flip-turn.

Have fun!

-Always take an empty lane if it is available.
-If there are only two of you in the lane, it is usually polite to ask to "split" the lane; each person stays one side of the black line.
-Before jumping in a lane with someone, let them know you're there by asking them if they mind you joining.
-Try to swim with people of your own speed.
-Stay to the right, pass on the left, tap their foot if you are going to pass.
-If you are resting on the wall, stay to the right (facing the opposite end of the pool) so people can finish or turn around you.
-Don't follow people too closely. Either pass them or leave farther behind them.

Do swim with all your clothes on. It's a good workout and looks GREAT! It's a new up and coming fad too!
